New Intercal Software to Help Make
Calibration of H-P's RF & Microwave Test Equipment Easy

Palo Alto, California -- January 7, 1998 Hewlett-Packard Company today announces it has signed a channel partnership agreement with Intercal LLC of Ashland, OR, to jointly market automated software that will simplify the calibration of H-P's RF and microwave test equipment.The software will run on personal computers (PCs) and use a standard calibration platform to help minimize calibration runtime and operator involvement. "This will allow test engineers and technicians around the world to calibrate H-P RF and microwave test equipment accurately and efficiently," said Roberta Lycette, manager of customer support processes for H-P's Microwave Instrument Division. "We expect the calibration software to enhance customer satisfaction through its ease of use and provide customers with a low cost of ownership."

Calibration for Microwave Equipment
Under terms of the agreement, Intercal will act as an independent software vendor to develop and market calibration software products that may be used in conjunction with H-P's existing and future microwave test products. Intercal's new calibration software will take advantage of the ease of use of PC-based environments and will operate using MET/CAL, one of the world's most widely used calibration platforms. Each automated Intercal procedure will follow H-P's written procedure for its test equipment and will provide customers with complete, verifiable test data. Intercal has already developed automated software to calibrate many of H-P's most popular spectrum analyzers. "This is a big win for our mutual customers," said Lawrence Newberry, manager of technical services for Intercal. "Our expertise in developing automated calibration software will provide microwave testers with a leading-edge calibration solution to help them get the job done fast and easy."
